dr_heathRobert W. Heath Jr., Ph.D., President and CEO – Dr. Heath received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2002, under the supervision of Prof. Arogyaswami J. Paulraj, one of the pioneers of MIMO wireless communication. Dr. Heath brings his extensive background in MIMO communication, in both research and practice, to MIMO Wireless Inc. From an academic perspective, Dr. Heath has published more than one hundred refereed conference papers and fifty journal papers, on all aspects of wireless communication, has eleven patents issued, and several patents pending, not to mention having graduated eight Ph.D. students at The University of Texas at Austin in his research group the Wireless Systems Innovations Lab, part of the Wireless Networking and Communications Group. Much of his research was shaped by his early experience at Iospan Wireless Inc, where he worked form 1998 – 2001 on the design and implementation of the physical and link layers of the first commercial MIMO-OFDM communication system. He has been strongly influenced by his background in prototyping, having lead several prototype developments including narrowband MIMO (at Iospan in 1998), MIMO-OFDM using National Instruments equipment (at UT Austin in 2003), and most recently Hydra: a IEEE 802.11n software defined radio and multi-hop MIMO network prototype using GNU radio (at UT Austin in 2007). Dr. Heath has experience in a broad range of MIMO communication including limited feedback techniques, adaptive MIMO algorithms, multiuser MIMO, multihop networking, antenna design, and scheduling algorithms as well as experience with standards including 3GPP LTE, 3GPP UMB, IEEE 802.16e (WiMax).
